JOMA Style Snow Plow Blades

This revolutionary style of snow plow blades consists of carbide inserts encased in rubber. The rubber shell around the metal significantly increases the product lifespan compared to exposed steel or carbide blades. Snow plow operators experience cost savings through fewer replacements, less equipment downtime, and reduced maintenance time.

Encased Rubber Cutting Edges for Snow Plows

  • Longer Lifespan – Carbide inserts encased in rubber have a longer product lifespan than exposed steel or carbide blades – meaning cost savings for you through fewer replacements, less equipment downtime, and reduced maintenance time.
  • Protects Road Surface – The rubber encasing protects against premature wear to the blade and protects the road surface as well.
  • Designed for Snow, Ice, and Water – Rubber is impervious to water, which prevents degrading on fluid exposure, making it especially effective for slush and snow.
  • Flexible Blades – The short blade segments and rubber encasing allows for flexibility to adjust to the contours of a road to prevent damage to road markers while efficiently removing snow.
  • Reduced Sound – The rubber encasing minimizes the sound and noise of the blade while plowing making it an optimal blade for residential streets and commercial parking lots.
  • Minimized Vibration – The flexible rubber cutting edge absorbs the vibration from friction with the road surface, which increases driver comfort.

Customer Testimonial

“From an operators standpoint conditions are always changing and with the Borox blue steel you have the ability to adapt to different conditions by switching between different cutting-edge styles and thicknesses easily. From a shop foreman standpoint less down pressure to do the job means less wear and tear on the machine, which translates to savings in the long run!”

Rubber + Steel Snow Plow Edge Innovation

Highway and road departments across the country are always looking to reduce costs on snow/ice removal labor and equipment. In fact, snow and ice management is the single largest expenditure in the maintenance budget for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT, 2013). JOMA-style blades may be the solution – they lower costs by extending wear life, protecting road surfaces, and minimizing damage to equipment.

State DOT Research into JOMA-Style Snow Plow Effectiveness

JOMA plow blades are a relatively new advancement for winter road maintenance. This led to efficiency and cost-effectiveness research from DOTs across the country over the last decade. Today, they are widely used in winter maintenance operations in Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, Utah, North Dakota, and more. DMC Wear Parts is proud to be a supplier for replacement JOMA style snow plow blades for many district/county highway departments, city roads departments, municipalities, and private snow removal contractors.

  • North Dakota’s test of Joma blades (and other snowplow blade types) in the 2010-2011 winter season found that Joma blades lasted three to four times longer than carbide steel.
  • Minnesota reported generally favorable experiences with the Joma blade life span in the 2007-2008 winter season, rating its durability as 5 out of 5 (excellent)
  • A Utah DOT study declared that while the use of Joma blades has reduced the number of blade changes needed per truck.
